Welcome to my world of poetry. I am Valentina Marzulli, a poet whose craft is deeply rooted in multicultural and multilingual experiences. I was born and then raised in a remote village in the very south of Italy. I now live permanently in Germany. As a woman with a soul divided between two different countries, between science and poetry, I believe that creativity is all around us, and I love to express it in different languages.  I am also an engineer and researcher, with a passion for delving into the mysteries of the universe and discovering the beauty within. I find inspiration in nature, from the Italian sea to the Bavarian forests where I wander and contemplate. I am a firm believer that a woman can be whatever she wants to be. I don’t shy away from speaking my mind. Writing is not only my passion but my way of living. I believe that every word has the power to change the world, to inspire and uplift others. My work is a celebration of my unapologetic femininity, my sexuality, and my personal journey. I'm grateful for the freedom to express myself in my own unique way. I don't conform to stereotypes or follow rules simply because someone has told me to do so. Instead, I act in accordance with my values and ethics, pouring my heart and soul into every piece I write.

Background

As a child,  I was always fascinated by the Moon, space exploration and science. At the age of eighteen I moved to Bari, in Italy, where I lived for seven years and completed my studies in Civil Engineering. In 2017 I moved to Erlangen, a small city in the beautiful region of Northern Bavaria, where I dedicated a few years of my life to work as PhD researcher at FAU (University of Erlangen-Nürnberg). During my PhD I studied lunar materials and in situ resource utilization applications for space exploration. It was an extraordinary period of my life, in which I achieved many professional goals and also met very interesting people. I had a great time designing complex experiments, testing lunar materials, working in multicultural environment and managing research projects. Driven by my passion for geotechnical engineering, space exploration and physics, one of my objectives has always been to inspire and encourage women to pursue STEM careers. After my research period, I decided to keep working, in collaboration with other colleagues, on terrestrial and extra-terrestrial projects.

Poetry as a second nature

As someone with a background in Civil and Materials Engineering, people might find it surprising that I have always had a passion for poetry and literature. But that's who I am - someone who defies convention and thrives in creative spaces. As a child, I studied piano for many years. I fell hopelessly in love with Chopin. I have always been incredibly passionate about literature. I've been writing poetry and short stories for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Italy before moving to Germany exposed me to different languages and cultures, further igniting my love for reading and writing. My life abroad pushed me to learn new languages, and this gives me now the opportunity to express myself, and to write, in different languages. Alongside my professional activities, I am currently enrolled in the degree program of European Languages and Cultures. As a poet, I seek to create pieces that evoke emotion and inspire others to look at the world in different ways. Join me on this journey of self-expression and discovery.
